This event is being hosted by National University of Computer & Emerging Sciences Lahore in collaboration with the student chapters of Punjab University College of Information Technology Lahore, Government College University Lahore, Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering Chennai, and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi.
The competitions in Geek Week‘12 include Asia Cup (All-Asia Distributed Programming Competition), Gamer of the Year and DevFest (24-hour Application Development Contest). In addition to these competitions, Geek Week ’12 will also include exhibitions i.e. Custom PC, Logo Designs, and Technology Showcase. Geek Week will also host a technology workshop and ACM Distinguished Speakers Session.
DevFest is evolved from the idea of consecutive lengthy hours of application development. The participants would be provided with the opportunity to show their skills on programming and enter to win astonishing awards. They will have 24 hours to come up with a plan, code and generate a working demonstration of a theme-oriented social desktop/web/mobile app. NUCES-ACM will provide the place , Internet connectivity, food and other essential facilities to the teams.
There will also be an incentive for companies who want to incorporate the company’s API or toolset into their sponsorship. They may give a small introduction/Tutorial about these at the start. At the end, the participants will present their operational apps in front of the spectators and a qualified panel of judges for their evaluation.
