Facebook and Telenor Pakistan collaborates on 28th May 2015 to launch Internet.org. Right now, Internet.org is only available with a Telenor SIM card. The mission of this collaboration is to make the world more connected and open. Around 20 websites will be available to Telenor users for free browsing which includes Facebook, whereas rest of the internet will be charged on the normal rates. Now Pakistan is among seventh developing countries where internet.org is deployed for affordable and efficient access to internet.

Facebook partners with 6 mobile companies (Ericsson, MediaTek, Opera Software, Qualcomm, Reliance and Samsung) to facilitate the developing countries with Internet.org so they can easily communicate to the world. Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook, said: “Connectivity is a human right.”.

Until now Internet.org has been launched in these countries: Zambia, Tanzania, Kenya, Colombia, Ghana, India, Philippines, Guatemala, Indonesia, Bangladesh and Malawi. Now its time for Pakistan today!

Critics say that by giving free access to certain selected websites only will be dangerous in the long run. Other publishers can also apply to be a part of internet.org after signing the contract of rules and regulations fixed by the authority.
